In August 2014, the International Security Sector Advisory Team (DCAF/ISSAT) and Swedepeace (Swiss Justice and Security Sector Reform Team – SJSSRT) executed their fourth mission to Honduras, one of the most violent countries in the world. The purpose of the mission was to backstop the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC) in their efforts on human security and violence reduction in Honduras. The mission had special focus on facilitating a strategic workshop on public policies for the security sector with the Minister of Security and his Vice Ministers, the Inter-American Development Bank, Switzerland and civil society representatives. In addition, the the Swiss JSSR Team accompanied the Alliance for Peace and Justice (Alianza para Paz y Justicia – APJ) in following up their 2014-2016 Strategy and to prepare a strategic policy dialogue with the Government of Honduras. The Alliance consist of a number of civil society organizations and is one of the key actors in the efforts to reform the justice and security sector in Honduras.
